Luxury Space: a Speculative Study of Human Centered Space
Introduction
Recent developments in both private and state funded space exploration projects have revealed an exciting possible future: human settlements in space. New developments in privatized aeronautic industries have shown the public new possibilities of human activity in space. Commercial interests now range from space mining, power generation, space tourism and even private sponsored mission to Mars. However, the human’s role in this new future is being undermined by the complexity of manned space missions. Our current mission based approach to space explorations focus on the tasks, while humans are being treated as the facilitators of those task. However, the future of space, which is filled with the possibilities of space settlements and human colonies, require designs that follow human centered perspectives. This paper first talks about the essentiality of a human centered space and later talks about a speculative proposal on using luxury as a tool to investigate the new emerging aspects of a human centered space.
